About the Book

Contemporary psychological research suggests that whereas death anxiety is a type of psychopathology, fear of death is almost universal in crisis situations like in severe illness, accidents, child-birth, old age, battlefield experience etc. Concepts of Death Anxiety and Fear of Death have been discussed, with case histories. This book further analyses Lord Krishna’s counsel to Arjuna to bring him out of dejection and refusal to fight. BG 2.7 may be regarded as a seminal verse in the history of religion and philosophy. Clusters of Gita verses dealing with different themes in Lord Krishna’s counselling have been constructed. These Gita Mantra clusters have the stamp of the Holy, being the spoken words of Lord Krishna, the Avatâra. Besides, many of these ideas like of Un-attached Action agree with contemporary thinking.

This book is expected to be a practical guide for persons suffering from fear of death and dying. It may also direct the reader to a higher spiritual life, for the BG deals with death in a positive manner, as a milestone on the path to immortality. Intellectuals may find the present analysis of the Gita structure around the themes of Death, Work and God as simple and logical. The delivery and reporting of Krishna-Arjuna Dialogue have also been discussed in a rational, logical manner. These Gita verses are non-sectarian and universal in nature and may be read without prejudice by persons of all faiths.
