About the Book
International Humanitarian Law is a set of rules that seek to limit the effects of armed conflict by protecting those who are not participating in hostilities and restricting the means and methods of warfare. It governs relations between members of the international community, namely States and its fundamental rules are binding on all States. This book is designed into 14 chapters that deal with the nature, meaning, source, contents and applications in international armed conflict in International Humanitarian Law. It also examine an identification and protection of protected persons and protected objects under IHL. Further if explains on various HIL rules and regulations like protective rule, rule civilians and combatants, rule of proportionality, prohibited and controlled weapons regulation, protection of the sick, wounded and shipwrecked in war protection for prisoners of war and civilians and monitoring mechanisms and protective emblems. Hope this book will be useful for the legal professionals, students and researchers of international law.
About the Authors
Monica Loss, a Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship in Yale School of Management, New Haven, specializes in competitive strategy, microeconomic theory, industrial organization, the economics of regulation and antitrust, and nonprofit strategy. She is associated as a consultant with Boston Scientific, Health Care REIT, and several organizations. She has written several books and research papers on the regulation of business and competitive strategy.
F.L. Bascunan is an Associate Professor of Management in Odette School of Business, University of Windsor. Her research interests integrate marketing, strategy, organizational behavior and entrepreneurship. Her research is an intersection of different research fields, and she strongly believes there is a need of significant contribution to a cross-boundary knowledge-building approach. For example, entrepreneurial and marketing strategy literature is dominated by organizational level theory, and can be enriched by the integration of individual and interpersonal knowledge.
