The Journal of Indian Health Psychology (JIHP) is scholarly journal devoted to interdisciplinary researches that generate knowledge and understanding of the scientific relations among psychological factors, behavior and health with special focus on Indian data. Present issue includes nine research articles.
The first article in the present issue is contributed by Sushma Pandey and Nidhi Gupta, exploring the mediating role of future orientation and time management in managing time stress- health relationship in medical professionals. The authors evinced direct positive link between time stress and health (illness) which is mediated by future orientation and time management strategies. Mandeep Sharma and Hardeep Lal Joshi examined the role of Family Environment and Self-Efficacy in Adjustment among female adolescents. The next article enlisted in the current issue discusses emotional states of the trauma patients’ based on pre and post intervention program. Rachana Kumari and Anjana Mukhopadhyay found that practice of cognitive restructuring and various relaxation training can help people with traumatic experiences.
Pallavi Raj and NovRattan Sharma emphasized the importance of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy in the treatment of Generalized Anxiety Disorder and also highlighted its role in improvement in all the dimensions of Quality of life of generalized anxiety disorder patients. Shreya Chaudhary and S.K. Srivastava compared the level of aggression and family environment between day worker and night worker. The authors found night workers to be more aggressive even their family environment was poorer than day workers. Touseef Rizvi and S. Reshma Jamal developed an inventory for assessing nature of Traumatic Stress and also assessed the Traumatic Stress among Kashmiri people living in low and high risk conditions.
In the next article, Kadambari and Deepti Hooda studied the role of Self-efficacy and Locus of Control in Adherence to medical regime among arthritis patients. Investigators found Self Efficacy and Locus of control to be significantly predictors of Adherence to Medical Regime in patients with arthritis. For better adherence to Medical regime, Health practitioners should focus on Health/Disease related Self Efficacy and Health related Locus of Control of patients while prescribing the medical regime. Findings of the present study highlights the need of developing intervention programs with a aim to enhance health related Self Efficacy and Locus of Control in order to encourage and motivate patients to adhere to medical regime.
Shubhakar Gajula and Beena Chintalapuri conducted an exploratory study aimed to identify the behavioural traits for the competency of problem solving of Health Professionals. The authors also studied the relationship between the identified traits and job performance. Mandeep, Sharma Amrita Yadava and NovRattan Sharma empirically explored the relationship between various dimensions of Life style and areas of Psychological well-being among college students. The authors suggested that possessing Healthy life styles enhances one’s well being.
