ABOUT THE BOOK
Although there are some books on various aspects of social policy and welfare administration but still the literature on facets of social policy, planning and administration is scanty. In this book, an attempt has been made to cover the main aspects of social policy and welfare administration into five chapters. The first chapter discusses about the concept, characteristics, goals, scope, functions, principles, and models of social policy and welfare administration and various government and non-government agencies involved in administering the social policies. The second chapter gives an insight into planning, policy formulation and implementation of social policies like poverty alleviation, food security, education, health, employment and other social welfare schemes. The third chapter explores nature, scope and implementing agencies of social welfare administration and social Justice to enhance the quality of human life in a society in all its dimensions. Role of the National Institute of Social Defence and Central and State Social Welfare Board in implementation of social welfare schemes and promotion of psychological, social and economic well-being of the underserved communities is discussed in the fourth chapter. The roles and responsibilities of non-governmental organisation, civil society actors and social entrepreneurs in implementing a social welfare policies and administration has been examined in the last chapter. Hope this book will be helpful for students, teachers, professionals and researchers of social works and its allied subjects.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Md. Iqball Majeed is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Governance and Development Studies, Hawassa University, Awassa, Ethiopia, Horn of Africa. Prior to joining Hawassa University, he has served as Academic Associate in Hamdard IAS Study Circle, Hamdard University, New Delhi. He completed his Masters and Doctorate from Department of Social Work, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. His academic and research interest spans subjects such as Climate Change Adaptation and Resilience, Disaster Risk Management, Community Engagement/ Organisation, Lives, Livelihoods and Social Capital, Digital Social Work and Social Defence. In India, he was associated with several institutions and organizations (NGOs) which have provided him with an inter-disciplinary approach towards the study of social and economic problems.
