This research-driven based media writing textbook digs deeply into how media professionals think and write in print media, electronic media, digital media, advertising, stylistics writing and other forms of strategic communication. This book helps readers to develop the essential writing skills and professional habits needed to succeed in 21st-century media careers. This book will show how writing for one particular medium differs from writing for another media; how drafting news for radio differs from drafting news for a newspaper; difference between the news in the print media (newspapers) and television news; and the techniques of television news reporting as well as know the rules for writing for the web and advertisement. This book also helps the instructors how to guide students to develop the basics of writing skills for all media platforms.
About the Author
Gouda Fernandis had a career in print journalism as a copy boy, researcher, reporter, columnist, and editor before receiving a doctorate as a Park Fellow in journalism and mass communication at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He receive Master in Mass Com. from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. Loomis brings 25 years of journalism and newsroom-management experience into his classes. His writing-intensive reporting classes reflect his research interest in civic engagement and civic journalism. These courses provide students with real-world reporting experience and produce student portfolios of published clips. Through his classes, students have won statewide press-association awards for public-service reporting. Their Civic Project stories are published in the Hawkeye, an online newspaper. He holds memberships in the Society of Professional Journalists and the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication, including its Civic and Citizen Journalism Interest Group.
