About the Book

Every Muslim believes that the Holy Book is a comprehensive and complete code of life for human race. But in spite of this strong belief, most of us do not have an approach to the real and original fountainhead of the Holy Qur’ân. Reading, reciting and learning of the Qur’ân by heart are not the ways of real approach to it. By approach we mean that we should understand what the Qur’ân says to us, what message it conveys to us, and what demand it makes from us. Unless we understand them we have no right to say that we have got approach to the Qur’ân, or that we have grasped it spirit. Apart from this learning approach, it is not possible to practise Islam unless we understand the aims, ideals and the message of this Holy Book. Keeping these points in mind, International Centre for Religious Studies has made an effort to redesign this comprehensive Encyclopaedia of the Holy Qur’ân in 5 volumes which explores about 300 important themes to meet the demand of the contemporary world. This Encyclopaedia will to understand Islam in wider perspectives.    

About the Authors

N.K. Singh, a reputed Islamic scholar has written several important books on Islam and has edited Encyclopaedia of Islamic Dynasties. He did M.A. and Ph.D. and had produced several research papers in journals of national and international repute. Presently, he is working as a Director of International Centre of Religious Studies and the chief editor of Global Religious Vision- a quarterly research journal.

A.R. Agwan did M.Sc. with specialisation in environmental studies. He became engrossed in various Islamic activities till he was designated the Director of Institute of Objective Studies and its founder-secretary-general in 1986. His active contribution in various research projects, publications and seminars of regional, national and international levels at the Institute acclaimed for him an academic eminence in the Muslim circles. His multi-religious commentary Towards Ecological Consciousness was distributed by the World Conference on Religion and Peace on the occasion of United Nations Conference on Development at Rio de Daneiro in 1992. To his credit are various articles and papers published in national and international journals and the well received book Islam and the Environment.
