About the Book

In present book authors make an effort to explore the impact the major reform policies in trade, industry and banking sector by the government of India since 1991 in eleven chapters. The first three chapters of this book focus the major impacts of reforms upon the industry and trade, trade blocs and barter trade system. Globalisation of monetary policy and fiscal policy is described in chapter fourth and fifth. Last six chapters examine the need and relevance of reforms in Indian banks to assess the efficiency and profitability of Indian banks during reforms from different perspectives. It is hoped that this book will be very useful society in general and students, scholars and teachers of Economics/Commerce in particular.

About the Authors

Prof. Neelkanth Gajanan Pendse (MA, PhD) is former Head of the Department of Post Graduate Studies and Research in Economics, and Presently Chairman Board of Studies in Economics, Rani Durgavati University, Jabalpur M.P. He specializes in Econometrics and Development Economics. He has published more than 100 research papers in professionally reputed Journals. He has six books to his credit and 4 books are in pipeline. He is also member of Editorial Board of Departmental Journal “Katilya Varta”. He is expert member to several academic bodies and life member of IEA, ISAE, ISLE, ICA, MPEA and IIOA. He is the first economist in the state of Madhya Pradesh to win young scientist Award in Social Sciences awarded by MAPCOST, Bhopal.

Dr. Sukanta Sarkar (MA, PhD) is working as Assistant Professor in Faculty of Management Studies, ICFAI University, Agartala Tripura, India. He did bachalor and master degree in Economics from Tripura University. He was awarded doctorate degree for his research work on socio-economic changes of rubber tappers in Tripura He qualified UGC-NET Exam in December/2006. He presented many research papers in various seminars, conferences and symposiums. Various research papers have been published in foreign and national journals. He also previously worked as visiting lecturer in National Institute of Technology, Agartala and Tripura University. He has research interest in various topics like agricultural crisis, rural development, women empowerment, sustainable development and social problems. He has authored books relating to Corruption, Human trafficking, Orphan children, Rubber plantation, Corporate social responsibility, Handicraft workers, Deforestation, Environmental pollution, Agrarian economics, Illegal trafficking, Environmental Science, Autonomous District Council & Tribal Welfare and Social security.
