About the Book

Though new HIV infections have declined in the last decade, over 2 million are currently living with HIV/AIDS in India. Public health approach refers to what and how we, as a society, think and do collectively to assure the conditions for HIV infected and affected people to be healthy. Intended for social sciences and medical researchers, the book HIV/AIDS in India is a collection of articles illustrating national policies and programs, involvement of Institutions of higher learning in training and mentoring of HIV/AIDS counselors, counselors’ efforts to enhance HIV testing and adherence, NGO involvement and the multifarious ways in which psychologists can contribute to the HIV prevention and care continuum. The strength of the book lies in its uniquely connecting the various dots in the HIV/AIDS puzzle to deduce meaningful strategies.
