Description

The current issue of the Journal of Indian Health Psychology has twelve research articles and one short communication that deal with variety of psychosocial issues relating to health and illness.
The first article by C.R. Darolia, Pardeep Kumar and Shashi Darolia empirically validated Das’s PASS (Planning, Attention, Simultaneous and Successive processing) Reading Enhancement Program (PREP) on Indian children with reading and spelling deficits.
Anubhuti Dubey and Nisha Kumari have reported strong relationships between patients’ beliefs about their condition and their well being. The findings of their study emphasis that health professionals should address to negative beliefs and emotions surrounding the condition of the cancer patients, while designing the treatment programme.
Kavya Chelli, R. Lalnuntluangi and Meera Padhy found that health hardiness explained significant proportion of variance in illness perceptions and pointed towards the need for developing health hardiness based interventions to enhance positive illness perceptions in patients with type 2 diabetes.
The next article in this issue by Shyodan Singh, D .Chao and Satish Kumar Rajoria reported that Yoga has profound effect on physical and psychological Well-being of Indian elderly people.
The findings of the study conducted by Ranjana and Nandini Moudgil reported intelligence and neuroticism as strong predictors of well-being. Jyoti Sharma and Anita Sharma reviewed on Psycho-social factors in alcoholism and conducted a pilot surveys’ outcome shows that rural and urban alcoholics differ accordingly with social class, the two factor interaction shows.
Lovely Gyan and Archana Shukla assessed Emotional Intelligence of customer tackling and housekeeping staff of Indian railways and found better Emotional Intelligence in customer tackling than housekeeping.
Priyanka Behrani, in the next article have reported significant differences in Subjective Well Being of Young Adults of Single Parent Family and Dual Parent Family.
Mohammad Amin Wani and R. Sankar from a research conducted on HIV/AIDS Patients concluded that most of the AIDS patients have moderate and sever level of anxiety, stress and depression.
The next article by Rupan Dhillon and Deepti Randhawa reported that school adjustment is the most important predictor for high motivation in both boys and girls.
Rajesh Ganesan and Moon Banerjee have highlighted the effectiveness of psychological intervention in reducing the frustration reactions and further emphasized the need to incorporate such behaviour interventions in the curriculum at all the educational levels that could help in managing and mitigating the frustrations and stresses experienced by the students.
Rita Rani Talukdar and Sukanya Bora have talked about menopausal anxiety in women and importance of developing interventions to address this kind of anxiety.
All the articles enlisted in this issue will provide direction for young researchers working in the field of health and well-being. Editors express gratitude to all the contributors for their research contributions. Editors are also grateful to the referees and members of editorial board for their valuable inputs. The members of the editorial board are of the view that the journal tries to sensitize the readers to various health related psychosocial issues that would pave the path towards healthy and flourishing communities.
