Description

The current issue of the Journal of Indian Health Psychology has thirteen articles that deal with psychosocial and spiritual aspects of holistic health and illness. The first article by Priyanka Yadav and Deepti Hooda explored the relationship between pain acceptance, committed action and pain coping strategies among osteoarthritis patients. Ved Prakash Rawat and Anjali Verma in the next article studied Spirituality and Mindfulness in elderly people. The third article by Niloufar Vafaei Soleiman Darabi compared depression, neurotic and psychotic traits among creative and non-creative students. Hardeep Lal Joshi conducted a qualitative study on experiences of primary caregivers of the patients with bipolar affective disorder. The next article by Amandeep Singh and Rupan Dhillon enlisted and highlighted the different theoretical perspectives which may lead to alcoholism. The authors also presented the personality structure of alcoholics. Akshaya. I. and K.V. Krishna explored the effectiveness of yoga techniques on state-trait anxiety and self-esteem among school-going adolescents with PMS. The results showed significant improvement in self-esteem and reduction of state-trait anxiety in adolescent girls with PMS. Ravinder Kumar, Neetu and NovRattan Sharma carried out an investigation to assess gender differences in different areas of adjustment. Shyodan Singh in his article gave insights into the psychosocial and economic aspects of empowerment of the Indian elderly from weaker sections. Ishrat Munawer, Musaddiq Jahan and Afreen Khan explored the role of PsyCap (hope, efficacy, resilience and optimism) in the mental health and they reported significant contribution of PsyCap in predicting mental health of students. Akbar Husain, Prashant Sharma and Ruchi Singh presented a holistic approach to develop youthfulness, obedience, good heath and awakening through yoga. Sonika Dangi and Himanshu Choudhary assessed Emotional Maturity and Level of Anxiety among College Students. The next article by Archana Shukla and Varun Yadav highlighted the parallels between the concepts of spirituality and personality in psychology. The last article in the current issue by Zohra Khatoon studied Prayer as Counselling Intervention and reported the positive effect of Prayer (Namaz) in reducing the depression and anxiety among students.
All the articles enlisted in this issue are appreciable and will provide direction for young researchers. Editors express gratitude to all the contributors for their research contributions. Editors are also grateful to the referees and members of editorial board for their valuable inputs. The members of the editorial board are of the view that the journal tries to sensitize the readers to various health related issues that would pave the path towards a healthy community.
