The sole objective of this edition, ‘Muslim Feminism and Feminist Movement in 9 volumes, is to provide a comprehensive analytical study of the nature and motivation of Muslim feminism and feminist movement in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Malaysia, Mauritius, Indonesia, Philippines, Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Soviet Central Asia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Algeria, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Jordon, Kenya, Liberia, Mali, Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Sierra Leone, South Africa, Sudan, West Africa, and Yugoslavia. These volumes deals with three major waves of feminist expression— first wave is an expression of gender consciousness individual feminist writings, second wave is everyday activism including individual innovations in daily life, and third wave is an organised movement, which is highly visible and more confrontational. Here, we have incorporated more than 100 chapter deals with the general patterns of feminist movement and its impact on the socio-political and legal reforms in family law and the status of global Muslim women.
About the Author
Abida Samiuddin is an eminent feminist scholar and journalist. She did M.A. in History and Urdu literature from Patna University, Patna. She has contributed number of research articles in journals and newspapers. She had worked in Urdu Academy, Patna for two years. Presently, she is doing freelance journalism and associated with important newspapers and NGOs.
R. Khanam is a young research scholar of sociology of Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata. She has contributed some important research papers in journals of national reputes. She is associated with social activities of women welfare.
