PM Modi’s foreign policy in 2025 was characterized by high activity, strategic balancing amid global shifts, and significant challenges, particularly in relations with major powers and the neighborhood. It reflected India’s pursuit of strategic autonomy (multi-alignment), economic diversification, and assertive responses to security threats, but faced criticism for isolation, transactional strains, and limits to personality-driven diplomacy. Foreign visits of PM Modi in 2025 were notably intensive. He undertook 11 foreign tours, visiting 23 countries and spending 42 days abroad, marking his busiest year for international travel since 2014. This reflects a sharp uptick in diplomacy, driven by fewer domestic elections and strategic priorities. These visits often resulted in agreements on trade, defence, critical minerals, energy, and diaspora benefits, underscoring Modi’s focus on economic security and global influence. Overall, 2025 reinforced India’s active role on the world stage through extensive travel and targeted diplomacy.
About the Author
Dr. N.K. Singh, 35 years research experience on Oriental Religion and Philosophy, has written several books on religion, philosophy and its allied subjects. He did his Ph.D. from Patna University, Patna. His works, especially on oriental studies initiated considerable interest on Buddhism, Hinduism and Islam, carrying high appreciation from scholars of Buddhist and Islamic countries. Presently, he is the Director of International Centre for Religious Studies, Delhi and Chief Editor of Global Religious Vision: a quarterly Research Journal since 1999. In 2000, he established the publishing house known as Global Vision Publishing House in Delhi for promoting research culture among Indian youth.
