About the Book
The main purpose of the book entitled Tourism Anthropology is to study an insight into the socio-cultural aspects of tourism and the behaviors of the tourist that effects the host culture. The interaction between tourists and local people provided a new source of anthropological enquiry. Therefore, traditionally in tourism studies, anthropology is tended to deal with the impacts of tourism on the lifestyles, traditions and cultures of local people, residents or hosts. This book also explains the development of tourism through an anthropological lens to understand the commoditization of culture owing to tourism. Further, it takes into account the tangible and intangible heritages and the new emerging avenues in the field of tourism anthropology. Finally, this study will help in developing the new kinds of tourism that can generate a range of benefits for hosts as well as educational and transformative experiences for guests. About the Authors
Dr. Vaibhav Sharma is a responsible professional in tourism , hospitality and in educational domain by imparting acquired knowledge and skills while simultaneously keeping pace with new developments in tourism industry. He has completed B.Sc. in Hospitality and Hotel Administration from IHM Lucknow; Master in Tourism Management from IGNOU, New Delhi and Doctorate in Hotel Management from Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. He has also completed CHT (Certified Hospitality Trainer) program designed by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India for teaching with better skills in hospitality industry. He works as Assistant Professor (contractual) in the Dept. Business Administration, Bundelkhand University, Jhansi. He has presented more than 20 papers in national and international seminars and workshop and published 6 papers in Journals of national reputes.
Dr. Sudesh Bhandari works constructively with quality policy in a challenging atmosphere to become better with every step of his professional career and enhances knowledge with every passing phase. He has done M.Sc. (Anthropology), with specialization in Social Anthropology, from Punjab University, Chandigarh and Ph.D. from Punjabi University, Patiala. He works as Assistant Professor in the Department of Anthropology, Dr. H.S. Gaur University, Sagaur. He has presented and published 37 research papers in various Journals of national reputes.
