This book is an analytical study of the historical development and socio-economic importance of the Islamic Law of Charitable Trust in eleven chapters. The wakf is not mentioned in the Holy Quran, but derives its legitimacy primarily from a number of Hadith. The immediate spread and popularity of the wakf derives from the fact that it served socio-economic needs of the people. This edition examines legal status of the wakf in Islamic perspectives.
About the Author
Abdul Qadir is a notable scholar of Islamic Law and Politics. He did his M.A. and L.L.B. from Calcutta University. He has several important research papers published in reputed journals. Presently, Mr. Qadir is practising as a lawyer in Kolkata. His first published work is “Wakf: Islamic Law of Charitable Trust”.He is a member of several academic institutions besides holding honorary positions in NGOs.
