About the Book

This is an important book for general managers who need to understand the corporate financial framework. Many books and articles discuss the big corporate financing decisions; the financial impact of day-to-day business decisions, however, has been frequently ignored. This book aims at closing that gap. Therefore, this is a book for functional managers who need to understand the financial consequences of their operating decisions; this book will show managers (not only financial managers) how each managerial decision shapes the finance position, the cash flow, and, consequently, the profitability of the firm. This text is written, to a large extent, in a casual and non-formal language so as to make it available to a wide array of readers. No basic prior knowledge of financial, mathematical, or statistical concepts is needed to understand the message we intend to convey.

About the Authors

Dr Viqar Ali Baig obtained his B.tech, MBA-Finance and PhD degree from Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh and is currently working as Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration at Lingaya’s University, Faridabad. Dr Baig has been teaching the Post Graduate Courses for Management Students for over 9 years. His areas of interest are Financial Management, Security Analysis, Financial Derivatives and Financial Services. His research area is value chain management, supply chain management, and financial supply chain management. He is currently researching the effect of financial crisis on Supply chain Risk Management in Indian context and Green Supply Chain Management – Study of Drivers of GSCM for a Manufacturing Firm in India.

Prof Javaid Akhtar, MBA, PhD, FDP (IIM – A) , is currently serving as Dean, Faculty of Management Studies and Research, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He has 25 years experience of teaching in the Dept of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University. He has also served as the Chairman of the department for three years. His areas of research are accounting, finance and services management.
